The 2019 Lions Duck Race was held on August Bank Holiday Monday at Riverside Park on the River Itchen. 2500 ducks floated gently from Mansbridge to Woodmill followed by hundreds of happy spectators. We are very grateful to all who supported us and we owe a big thank you to members of the St Denys Boat Club who supplies some enthusiastic canoeists to escort the ducks downstream and helped to collect them all up again after the race had finished. We would not be able to hold this event without the help of the canoeists. So thank you all. If you feel that you would like to help the Lions to hold this and other events please contact us.
We Meet at the Master Builder, West End. on the SECOND Monday of each month at 7.30pm Please give us a call on

Solent Lions at the Pumpkin Festival 2017
Once again we had a fantastic time at the Jubilee Sailing Trust's Pumpkin Festival at the Royal Victoria Country Park on Saturday 14th October 2017. There were crowds of people enjoying the unseasonably warm and dry weather, with plenty to do for the children. Our Soft Toy Tombola proved a great hit with the little ones while dads came to our stall next door to talk about what Lions do. Several people took information leaflets away so maybe we could generate some new members for our Lions Club. One of the highlights of the stall was the raffle for a giant Teddy Bear. This was won by Andrea from Ashurst who is pictured below with her prize and Lions Club Member Steve Crook.
The Princess and the Lion or Beauty and the Beast.
We would like to thank all who supported us at the Festival and hope you will come and see us again soon.

Southampton Solent Lions Club would like to welcome you to our website, please feel free to browse and find out what we do. As we are now over half way through 2017, we are well into Lions clubs International's celebration of 100 years of service by 1.4 million Lions around the world.
Solent Lions were again fortunate this year to receive an award from ASDA's Commuity Fund and 4 of our members, including our President Louise went along to their Southampton Store to meet with Matt Murphy, ASDA's Community Champion to receive a cheque for £200 as one of their 3 chosen charities.
Solent Lions would like to thank the eight local pubs, including The Windsor Castle, The Salisbury Arms, The Mountbatten and The Rover, for raffling our giant Easter eggs again this year we raised £750, a really impressive effort.
Whitsun Bank holiday - The bank holiday at the end of May 2017, saw us once again taking our hugely successful soft toy tombola, and plant sale, to Manor Farm country park, where, despite the rain's best efforts to scare us off, we again raised money for our mainly local good causes.
Lions receive £100 boost from ASDA's Community Fund.

Pictured left are Lion Vic Smith of Swanwick Lions Club, Matt Murphy from ASDA, Lion Malcolm Carter and Lion Maureen Bentley of Southampton Solent Lions Club.
Matt Murphy, who is ASDA's Community Champion for their Southampton Marlands Store, made the presentation on behalf of ASDA's Community Fund. The £100 is a donation toward the money raised by the Lions Duck Race held at Woodmill on August Bank Holiday Monday this year. The Duck Race is a joint venture between the Lions Club of Southampton Solent and the Lions Club of Swanwick and was held for the 27th consecutive year in 2016. Every penny of the money raised will be used to help people in our local community who are less fortunate than ourselves. Several of the Duck Race prizes were donated by ASDA and we are very grateful for the help and support given to us by ASDA as well as other local companies.

The Duck Race 2015 was held on August Bank Holiday Monday 31st August. The first prize of £250.00 was once again be sponsored by The White Swan at Mansbridge, The Home of the Great British Carvery. There were many more prizes.
A great day was enjoyed by all who came to watch. The rain finally abated an hour before the off which resulted in the river being high and fast flowing. The winner crossed the finishing line in what could be a record time of thirty minutes and nine seconds.
The ducks are ready to go.
The ducks are on their way.
Just a few stragglers.
All in the water.
The field is spread out.
We are a service club that aims to help those in our local community as well as others through Lions International.
Solent Lions are a group of men and women who have decided to give up a small portion of their time with the aim of raising funds to help others.
We hold various fundraising events throughout the year including a race night twice a year at Netley Abbey British Legion and culminating in our main fundraiser, the Grand Duck Racwhere we take 2500 "wild" plastic ducks, place them into the River Itchen at Mansbridge, near the White Swan pub, and race them all the way down to Woodmill.
All funds raised by the Club are redistributed to good causes and the running costs of the Club are found by the members.
